Bottled Gas Uses

Bottled Gas is a portable source of fuel that is extremely versatile. It has many uses around the home, in businesses and commercial applications, and also in the garden or on a leisure break or trip.

Bottled gas is probably known more so for it's use as a mobile fuel in caravanning and camping applications. Here it is used as a fuel for cooking and heating purposes with kitchen appliances such as camping stoves, portable grills, caravan cookers, and much more.

The most common type of fuel used with caravan and motorhome cookers is butane lpg that is supplied in a choice of cylinder sizes from your local bottled gas stockist. The refillable bottles (metal cylinders) are usually blue or a dark yellow colour depending on the brand of bottled gas you choose to purchase.

Some mobile homes and caravanner's opt to use propane gas instead of butane. This is only possible though if the connected appliance will run off propane as opposed to butane. Butane lpg is supplied in the UK in bright red cylinders from all lpg stockists.

LPG for cooking and heating at home

If you live in a home which is not connected to the UK gas mains supply, LPG can be a convenient, clean, and reliable fuel source compared to some of the others that are available. Compared to other fossil fuels, bottled gas has a low carbon emission and doesn't produce any unpleasant soot. Unlike heating oils it can ignite instantly without any fuss, has a visible blue flame to allow controlled heating and cooking in your home, and also won't taint your food.

Bottled gas can also be used at home for many outdoor leisure purposes with suitable BBQs, patio heaters, portable gas heaters, and outdoor lighting. It is one of the most cost effective fuels to use when you wish to make the most of your leisure time out in the garden or whilst entertaining on the patio.

Bottled gas cabinet heaters are a popular appliance that can be found in many households. These simple to use heaters are simple to use, can be moved to where the heat source is required - and operate off an economical refill cylinder of butane gas. In past years this type of portable heater was always referred to as a Calor © Gas Heater. Nowadays though the phrase of mobile or portable cabinet heater is what is commonly used, with brands available to buy bearing the names of Delonghi, Superser, and Lifestyle being easily available at most gas appliance stockists.

Using Propane Gas with a barbeque

Bottled gas type bbq's allow a great degree of convenience over traditional charcoal barbeques. The first point being that they offer instant ignition, with a gas barbecue it will be up and running straight away and be ready to start cooking in around a 10 minute timescale. This fuel type also means your bbq will be easier to clean after it has been used - with virtually no ash to clean and remove.

You will still have that great taste to your food - when using any type of barbeque it is not the fuel source that gives meat and vegetables their smoky flavour, this is achieved by the meat and food juices dropping onto the heat source rather than through smoke that would be given off whilst a charcoal bbq is in the stage of getting hot.

One great advantage with choosing a bbq that runs off bottled gas is the ability to control the temperature. A gas bbq allows the heat to be maintained at a constant temperature, turned up or down - this is something that cannot be done with any other type of barbecue appliance.

Bottled Gas for use with Space Heaters

A space heater can provide cost effective heating for a large variety of applications. Space heaters are designed for use in commercial properties and the likes of industrial units, workshops, garages, factory areas, and cold unheated buildings.

Shaped in a rocket style a space heater runs off propane gas and also requires connection to an electrical supply. The propane provides the fuel source with the electric supply powering the heaters internal blower fan and igniter unit.

Various specifications and sizes of space heaters can be purchased (as well as hired) to suit your individual heating needs. The propane gas cylinder is connected to a space heater by way of a high pressure heavy duty hose, a regulator valve controls the flow of lpg into the heaters internal valve and burner unit.

Space heaters are regularly referred to as being a blower heater, rocket heater, or torpedo space heater.
